A Fabulous Cake!

Ok, so I'm pretty sure that my cake turned out "AWESOME!" I am seriously so proud of it! I didn't have a ton of time to do a 3D Lightning McQueen Car like I wanted to so I decided to do a scene from the "Cars" movie instead.

This cake was a Triple Chocolate Fudge with Cream Cheese Filling.

This time I wanted to try to stay away from the buttercream frosting that uses Crisco (I hate Crisco) so I frosted with butter frosting with a hint of cream cheese. Im going to save my buttercream for decorating because of the stiffness you need and see how that works. I was suprised at how well it turned out. HINT: I always freeze my cakes cause they are way easier to frost that way. I used fondant (which I've never made before) for the road and the checkered side border. Fondant is really cool and it felt like I was putting playdo on my cake!

I used graham crackers for the dirt and molded the Piston cup out of fondant as well. It turned out so great that I didn't want to cut it up!
I enjoy doing fun cakes for my kids birthdays. I guess its kinda my present to them. What kid wouldn't want a cool cake for their birthday! Now Chelsea is already putting in the orders for her Barbie cake ;) That will be interesting...
